Schwanenteich
Zum Aubachtal 100, 56566 Neuwied-Oberbieber
Reservoir located in the Rhein-Westerwald Nature Park.
One of the most recent measures for the development and enhancement of the Oberbieber recreational area was the construction of the Aubach reservoir above the equestrian facilities at the mouth of the Engelsbach valley. It was opened to the public in July 1971. The normal water capacity of 20,000 cubic meters with a depth of up to 3.4 meters can be increased to 50,000 cubic meters with a depth of up to 4.7 meters. Not far from the restaurant at the entrance of the Engelsbach valley at the foot of the Köppel, there once stood the Freunds or Paulsmühle, which burned down in 1893. At the upper end of the lake, near the forest house of the Oberbieber music club "Eintracht," at the foot of the Windelberg, there was a silver smelting hut in the 19th century.
A paradise for walkers, joggers, and cyclists. Kneipp basins and the beer garden complete the wellness program.
