Postenturm
55422 Bacharach
Today the Postenturm is a walk-in observation tower.
Originally it was a former defence tower in the northern wall of the Bacharach town fortifications made of slate quarry stone. In 1899 it was restored as a water reservoir. The tower has a U-shaped ground plan, also known as a shell tower. Its open side is partially clad with a shifted half-timbered wall, while a hipped roof in slate covering crowns the post tower.
