Grundstück der ehemaligen Synagoge
Dorfgemeinschaftshaus, 55413 Oberheimbach
In a narrow, sloping side street of the main street of Oberheimbach there was a synagogue, in the so-called "Judengasse".
The building is said to have been sold in the 1930s under pressure from the National Socialists. Later the building was demolished, the plot remained undeveloped. A small Jewish community was established in Oberheimbach in the 18th century, which grew to 30 members by 1895. Religious facilities included the synagogue, a religious school, possibly a mikvah and the cemetery. When the Jewish community became too small around 1920, the remaining Jews joined the community in Bacharach.
